Cara is a DONA International certified birth doula and Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) through the Center for Breastfeeding. She believes that all women are capable of giving birth fearlessly and works hard to instill her clients with confidence and knowledge as they approach their birth and the transition to parenthood. Cara completed her doula training with Debra Pascali-Bonaro, and underwent her Certified Lactation Counselor Training with the Center for Breastfeeding in 2013. She loves helping new moms and their babies begin a satisfying and successful breastfeeding relationship. She has attended a Natural Childbirth Workshop with Ina May Gaskin, trained in advanced Rebozo techniques with Gena Kirby and is certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and Infant CPR. Cara brings enthusiasm, compassion and a down to earth sense of humor to her work. She has a background in yoga and completed yoga teacher training in 2006. She supports women giving birth home, birth center and hospital settings. Cara has a particular interest in supporting women who are planning for a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). It was her own VBAC and the support she received from her fantastic doula in the summer of 2012 that led her to pursue this path.
When not supporting birthing women, Cara enjoys cooking, practicing yoga and impromptu mid-afternoon dance parties with her kids. She is a mother of two and lives with her family in Jackson Heights, Queens.
